I just wanted to let you know that Unplanned Finance is never going to be updated again. I'm still involved in the personal finance space, but I haven't made the time to maintain my own presence online.
It's a shame that I haven't made the time for my own voice to be heard. Most of my writing is "consumer finance" focused and informative rather than emotional. The emotional writing is a lot more fun. And I feel like I still have a lot to say, particularly about motherhood and money.
That said, I just don't see myself paying a babysitter so I can blather on about money without compensation. Nor do I see this site producing an income (other than as a means to introduce me to freelance writing clients, who I have mostly met).
Essentially, I'm saying goodbye to a hobby, and the people who made that hobby so much fun for me.
As a means of saying goodbye, I'm going to quickly list the things that I've learned by blogging about money.
Also, since I feel like I've made some friends via blogging, I'd like to give some personal updates.
Thank you all for your kind words, support, and encouragement the last several years. I've learned and grown so much. I have a whole new career thanks to the people who believed in my voice, and especially the people that gave me a chance to write guest posts on their sites.
I hope that many of you continue to speak into the internet. I love hearing your voices, even if I can't add to the chorus right now.
I'm a wife, a mom, an employee, and a personal finance nerd who is devoted to spreadsheeting my way through life.
