My husband is on his way to earning a PhD, so he's pretty smart. Last night, he asked me if I will ever earn money on this blog which is a ridiculous question because I've already earned $.04 on Google AdSense (I just haven't gotten paid).
When I told him as much, he had many ideas for how I should make money on the blog. These are our top contenders.
Sell T-shirt promoting Ethical financial Behavior
These are his design ideas. Alternatively, we may choose to sell them in red.
Plan low cost vacations for other people
Maybe he just wants me to talk to someone else about the camping tour of the Western United States that we are definitely taking at some point in the nebulous future. This vacation will be fun, and I would be glad to discuss it with you, for Free! (I mean for $1.00, because I'm making money here).
Sell a cookbook
While this is a personal finance blog, and cooking the books is definitely frowned upon in this sphere, I do love to cook, and it seems like people are always asking for low cost recipes. Sadly, this idea is already taken by Laurie, the Frugal Farmer, and all my best recipes are already available for free online.
However, I'm still considering writing a book of food based puns. I'm guessing this will be a huge hit, and definitely fits with the audience that reads this blog.
Get people to pay you for a financial advice.
On the one hand, its flattering to think people might pay me for my advice. On the other hand, I like to say things like, "Quit your job"and "Blame your parents for your problems", so I'll probably get sued about 15 minutes after the first session. (I won't rule out this as a future possibility, but I would get certified first).
Maybe we'll keep brainstorming.
I'm a wife, a mom, an employee, and a personal finance nerd who is devoted to spreadsheeting my way through life.
